Presentation Title: Topology Optimization of Structures Made of Stock MaterialTopology optimization aids the computational design of structures and materials by determining the optimal distribution of material within a design envelope with regards to structural performance and weight. Advances in this technology are fueled by a vibrant and growing research community, and off-the-shelf software is today routinely used in the design of structures across a wide variety of applications and industries. However, as I discovered during the course of my previous industry tenure, topology optimization is still far from becoming standard work in the product development process, and the customary design-analysis iteration remains the norm in most cases.....
