Adjunct Associate Professor
Stefano Orlandini received his Diploma (M.Sc.) summa cum laude in Civil Engineering from the University of Parma (1991) and his Doctorate (Ph.D.) in Hydrology from the Politecnico di Milano Technical University (1995). He is an Associate Professor of the Department of Engineering Enzo Ferrari at the University of Modena & Reggio Emilia, Italy. Orlandini was the developer of state-of-the-art methods for the analysis of contour and grid digital elevation models, and has extensive research experience in terrain analysis and distributed surface flow modeling. He has successfully led research projects funded by UNESCO (2008-2011), the Italian Ministry of Education, Universities, and Research (2010-2012, 2013-2015), and the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2007-2009, 2010-2012). He serves the Agenzia Interregionale per il Fiume Po (AIPO, Parma, Italy) as an expert in the management of the hydraulic risk along complex fluvial systems in the Provinces of Parma, Reggio Emilia, and Modena. He is a member of the American Geophysical Union, European Geosciences Union, International Association of Hydrological Sciences. He serves as a scientific paper peer reviewer for journals as Advances in Water Resources, Geophysical Research Letters, Hydrological Processes, Journal of Hydrologic Engineering, Journal of Hydrology, and Water Resources Research. He serves the American Geophysical Union as an Associate Editor for Water Resources Research (2013-present). He serves as peer proposal reviewer for International Institutes as Georgia National Science Foundation, Italian Ministry of Education, Universities and Research, Romanian National Research Council, and US National Science Foundation.
