Effects of Urbanization and Climate Change on Hydrology and Water Resources in Texas River Basins. The State of Texas is prone to both floods and droughts, which are expected to become more frequent and intensified under a changing climate. Meanwhile, with the rapid population growth and economic development, the burden to Texas water resources is exacerbated by ever increasing demands from users. From a hydrological processes perspective, the direct consequence of the increased impervious area due to urbanization is greater surface runoff and higher flood peaks. Although many reservoirs have been built to regulate river flows and increase water supply during the past several decades, the role of these reservoirs in the context of different future climate change and urbanization scenarios needs to be explored....
