As the climate becomes more uncertain, there is concern regarding changes in basic aspects of food security, including production, safety and quality. In this presentation I will review the challenges that rising CO2 and climate change imposes for these aspects for a number of key agronomic systems, with a special focus on rice. However, I will also begin to address potential means to address these vulnerabilities, both in regard to management and genetics.
