Duke Engineers for International Development (DEID)

DEID supports high-impact engineering projects around the world by combining community-driven ideas with student design. DEID partners with under-served communities on cost-efficient and sustainable projects aimed at improving the standard of living of numerous individuals. Students gain real-world experience working on projects in a wide range of engineering disciplines that promote a sense of international responsibility. More about DEID »

The DukeEngage program provides funding for Duke undergraduates who wish to pursue an intensive civic engagement experience within a community that has an identified need. Through DukeEngage, Duke students address societal issues within the U.S. and abroad. Below is a video featuring one of Pratt's projects in Rwanda in recognition that, by summer 2016, more than 3,400 Duke students will have volunteered more than 1 million hours through DukeEngage, having served more than 600 community organizations around the world.
